Redi Tlhabi remembers Xolani Gwala after emotional memorial
In a tweet, Redi gave followers a glimpse of the pain she feels since losing one of her best friends. Gwala, your absence is just not working out for me. I am doing my best and will keep trying to adapt.
Redi added that she just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to her friend. I thought I was ready. I am not. I will let you know once I have mastered life without your laughter and hugs.”

On Wednesday, mourners gathered at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Rivonia, Johannesburg to pay tribute to him.
A family member read out an emotional letter from Xolani’s wife and former Miss SA Peggy Sue Khumalo, in which she detailed her grief. “In our second year of love and bliss, cancer disrupted and rocked our world to its very core like an unwelcomed guest, an unexpected thief and cold-hearted robber, it rattled our love nest.
“Xolani was my rock. When I was upset, he stayed calm. When I was worried, he assured me that it will be okay and when I wasn’t sure what to do, he figured it out.” There will be another memorial service to celebrate Xolani’s life from 10am until 1pm at Grace House Family Church in Randburg.
